Someone asked what the case is that I’m using to hold my artisans and novelty caps (as per my previous post). While there are some nice acrylic ones on sites like Taobao specifically for caps, and a few Redditors have 3D printed keycap stands that they sell (which I will get eventually), I just got something that someone suggested in a discussion thread, which is a storage box for daubers.
Amazon – Dauber with Storage Box (affiliate link, because I’m a sellout)
It works well enough for what it is, it’s cheap as shit (only $8), and I don’t have to wait forever to get it. A few caveats though: there is the ugliest-ass logo pad printed on the top of the lid. It was gross as fuck, so I used some high-grit wet/dry sandpaper I had, as well as some plastic polish, to get rid of it. Also keep in mind that while it will hold most keycaps of the artisan and novelty ilk, some caps that are very wide (like my Keylusion Keytsune) or have length that would normally extend into the space of another keycap (like my Ebi Nigiri Sushcap) will not fit. Tall caps like my Bad News! Lucky Cat will fit with no issue, which is nice.
The only other thing you really need to watch out for, is that as the walls of the case are so high, you might find it difficult to take a cap out once you put it in. For this, I usually just use a keycap puller, but sometimes you can wiggle things around enough to get some traction on the side.
So for a small amount of money (and if you have enough keycaps to justify getting a case for them, this is comparatively nothing) you can get an OK case for storing or schlepping around your caps to meets.
